Peacemaking contingent of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Sierra Leone consists of the 4th separate repair battalion and the 20th separate helicopters unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since December 21, 2000 the 4th separate repair battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carries out tasks in UN Mission to Sierra Leone with 524 servicemen. Armament and equipment:

The Mission consists of 5 staff officers and 5 observer officers. Historical references In October 22, 1999 the Mission was deployed in Sierra Leone according to the Resolution № 1270 of the UN Security Council in 1999 with the task to settle conflict between the state government and Joint revolutionary front representatives. The Second Peace Treaty between the government and Joint revolutionary front leaders was signed in November 2000 in Abudja through the mediation of UN and Economic Partnership of the countries of Western Africa. Trying to leave the conflict without economic basis, on July 7, 2000 the UN Security Council made the decision to put an embargo on diamonds trade on the territory controlled by Joint revolutionary front soldiers. The special representative of the UN General Secretary and the chief of the Mission Olueme Adenidji (Nigeria), the deputy of the special representative Behruz Sadri, the senior military observer – Brigadier general Isaac Soda Arizona Tsisuzi (Zambia), the commander of the UN peacekeeping forces lieutenant-general Deniel Ishmail Opande (Kenya) the Mission headquarters is located in Freetown. The Mission peacekeeping forces provide peacekeeping and security operations in the country under the Resolution № 1270 1999 and the Mandate № 1321 20.09.2000 of the UN Security Council.
